TENCEL™ Modal is a plant-based fibre developed by Lenzing in Austria. It is derived from sustainably sourced beechwood pulp. Its smooth fibre structure creates fluid drape while helping to release heat and manage moisture, staying soft against the skin.
Elastane adds stretch with recovery, allowing the garment to move naturally and retain its shape over time.

What is TENCEL™ Modal?
TENCEL™ Modal is a plant-based fibre developed in Austria and made from sustainably sourced beechwood.
Unlike generic modal fabric, it is produced under certified quality standards to ensure consistency, durability, and performance, with a more environmentally responsible production process.
Why Modal over Cotton, Silk, or other fabrics?
We chose TENCEL™ Modal for its measurable softness, superior night-time comfort, and long-term durability.
Cotton fibres are thicker and more irregular in structure, and can absorb up to 25–27% of their weight in moisture, which can leave fabric feeling damp. Modal fibres are up to 40% finer than conventional cotton fibres, creating a smoother, softer feel against the skin.
Silk is naturally smooth, but it can lose up to 20% of its strength when wet and requires delicate care. Our TENCEL™ Modal offers similar softness with far greater durability for everyday washing.
Other fabrics : Standard modal is thin and pills fast. Polyester traps heat, sheds microplastics and fights the skin. Satin is usually just polyester with a shine.
MASHA TENCEL™ Modal offered the balance we were looking for plant based, softness, breathability, durability, and easier care without compromise.
Will I overheat or feel damp during the night?
No.
The fabric is breathable and moisture-managing, helping regulate temperature and prevent that overheated, damp feeling overnight.
Are they safe for sensitive skin?
Yes.
The fabric is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning it has been independently tested for harmful substances and verified safe for direct, prolonged skin contact.
